This ship has been painstakingly recreated in die-cast and plastic materials then hand painted with an incredible level of detail. The vehicle also comes with a full color collector magazine. Vehicle measures approximately 5 inches long x 3-1/4 inches wide x 2-1/2 inches tall (mounted on base).
This 23rd-century Sydney-class ship crashed into a Dyson sphere. To maximize the probability of surviving until rescue, the two survivors, Ensign Matt Franklin, and Captain Montgomery Scott (Scotty) placed themselves in suspended animation through an ingenious modification of the transporter pattern buffer by locking it in a continuous level 4 diagnostic, and feeding it power from auxiliary systems. Seventy-five years later, the USS Enterprise-D discovered the sphere crash site and detected a very low power signature from the Jenolan. An away team boarded the Jenolan and discovered that life support was still barely functioning and the transporter was still online. By this time only Scott's transporter pattern was still intact and only he was rematerialized.
While the Enterprise D was investigating the Dyson sphere, they too were pulled in by the sphere’s tractor beams. To help the Enterprise escape La Forge and Scott brought the Jenolan to a stop within the sphere's hatch, using the ship's shields to prevent the hatch from closing. However, the strain disabled the Jenolan once more, preventing it from moving out of the way so the larger ship could pass. The Enterprise beamed off the engineers and destroyed the Jenolan with two photon torpedoes just before the two collided, clearing the path and allowing the Enterprise and her crew to escape unharmed before the hatch closed once again.
The highly detailed die-cast U.S.S. Jenolan NCC-2010 model comes complete with a fully illustrated magazine covering the design of this ship and how the Jenolan studio model was created by Greg Jein out of an earlier model built for Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Plus, an interview with James Doohan conducted in 2000, in which the actor reveals how he came up with the name and the accent for the much-loved Scotty.
The collection features a full range of Federation and alien vessels including seven incarnations of the Enterprise; all the major Klingon vessels including the Bird-of-Prey; Dominion; Borg; and Romulan ships and is slated to include about 130 ships in total.
