The Phoenix was an Earth spaceship used in the 21st century. It was the first Earth-made, manned spacecraft to achieve light speed using warp drive. The Phoenix is remembered as the ship that instigated Earth's First Contact with Vulcans. The Phoenix was featured in the film Star Trek: First Contact.
Dr. Zefram Cochrane, the inventor of warp drive, built this warp ship inside a missile complex in Bozeman, Montana. The ship was initially a United States Air Force nuclear missile with a titanium casing. It took six months for Lily Sloane to scrounge enough titanium to build the four-meter cockpit of thePhoenix. Dr. Cochrane was the pilot, and Lily Sloane was initially intended to be one of the co-pilots. However, William Riker and Geordi La Forge (both of the USS Enterprise-E, from 2373) served as the crew.
The fully illustrated magazine includes details of the Phoenix's capabilities, design, and appearance in Star Trek: First Contact. It also features an article on creating the costumes for First Contact.
The collection features a full range of Federation and alien vessels including seven incarnations of the Enterprise; all the major Klingon vessels including the Bird-of-Prey; Dominion; Borg; and Romulan ships and is slated to include about 110 ships in total.
